Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 60 fourth grade students who are passionate about their work and learning. I have been their teacher for four years now and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Honestly, I've learned more from them than they have from me.

Virtual learning is something we didn't expect.

It's not easy, but my kids make it better than I ever thought it would be!

My Project

My students are used to coming to school each day and having access to hundreds of books in our classroom library to choose from and read. We have books across all genres and books which cover numerous topics and interests. The best part of the day was getting to choose a new book.

Virtual learning has taken away our classroom library from us for now.

My kids don't currently have access to the classroom library that we normally love. Books are hard to come by when the school is closed.

This project will enable me to get my kids new books that they can read and enjoy at home. The books we read in class are now screenshots on the computer. These books will be for them to have at their house so they can practice independent reading with a real text. There is nothing like getting to have a real book in your hands!
