I have 17 curious kindergarteners! The majority of my students come to school with no prior school experience.
Many of my students face personal challenges at home, yet they come to school each day excited and eager to learn!
My students are curious, hands-on learners. In our classroom collaboration and teamwork are key components of our day. Each child is each unique in their own way, but together they make an amazing team. They love to sing, dance and play!
My Project
Play is the work of children, Fred Rogers of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood always reminded us. But over the past two decades, the American kindergarten experience has become much more academic—at the expense of play. I truly believe we need to bring back more play into our day. Children experience authentic experiences with leadership, collaboration and deep problem solving through play
Through play, I can incorporate social skills, language development, beginning reading and writing skills, and help students develop a love for math.
So much of a child’s learning is constructed through play. Children learn best through play because it allows them to apply everything they know and encourages them to ask questions and seek out new information and discovery. These materials will help me bring play into my academic-based centers.
