it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are eager and curious readers who thrive on engaging stories that inspire discussion, critical thinking, and a love for literature. To support their reading journey, I am seeking a class set of The One and Only Bob by Katherine Applegate. This heartfelt novel follows Bob, a scrappy and lovable dog, as he embarks on a journey of courage, friendship, and self-discovery.
Before diving into Bob’s story, we will first read The One and Only Ivan, the award-winning novel that introduces Bob and his best friends, Ivan the gorilla and Ruby the elephant.
By experiencing Ivan’s journey first, students will develop a deeper connection to the characters and themes, making *The One and Only Bob* even more meaningful.
By providing each student with their own copy, I can ensure that every child can fully engage with the text, participate in meaningful discussions, and build essential literacy skills. Having a physical book in their hands will allow them to annotate, follow along closely, and develop a deeper appreciation for reading.
This novel’s themes of resilience, empathy, and perseverance will resonate with my students, fostering important life lessons beyond the classroom. With your support, we can create a shared literary experience that will ignite a passion for reading and critical thinking in our young learners.
