Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The basketballs, volleyballs, pickleball kit, scoreboard, and ball basket will create opportunities for our students to engage in fun, interactive activities during lunch and after school. These resources will encourage students to connect with their peers, build teamwork skills, and relieve stress, which positively impacts their mental health and classroom focus. By fostering a sense of community and belonging, these activities will help improve social-emotional learning and overall student well-being.
Our goal is to create a vibrant and engaging space on our small blacktop where students can enjoy intramurals, recreational sports, and fun activities that build lasting connections.
Beyond just physical activity, we want to provide opportunities for students to develop relationships, find joy on campus, and cultivate school spirit. Additionally, this equipment will be used to support family engagement events, bringing together parents and students for memorable shared experiences.
Our students are incredibly resilient and creative, thriving despite limited on-campus resources like a gym, field, or large multi-purpose room. They bring diverse talents and a strong desire to connect with one another, but they lack the space and tools to engage in meaningful recreational activities. By providing these resources, we can give them the high school experience they deserve—a chance to play, collaborate, and make lifelong memories right here on campus.
