What I love most about my students is their excitement and enthusiasm when they enter the art room. Art crosses all backgrounds and abilities to bring people together. My students embody the powerful impact art has in creating creative critical thinkers who look to and shape the world in new ways each day. In the art room I have witnessed them take creative risks and explore their own imaginations to surprise themselves.
Our Title I school provides students with a respectful school climate where the student comes first, academic and artistic achievement is sought, cultural and linguistic diversity is honored, and all learners have the tools they need to discover and fulfill their potential.
My elementary artists are creative, curious and inventive. We are looking to harness their creativity and transform our school into a more fully realized STEAM school. This FlashForge printer would provide limitless opportunities for arts based STEAM learning activities in our art room. If my artists were to have equal access to new technology they would be given the opportunity to develop the creative and critical thinking skills required for the 21st century learner.
Artists will learn 21st century skills by incorporating art and technology using this 3D printer technology to transform STEM into STEAM .
As scientists and inventors, artists could develop unique art tools for mark making and painting. As mathematicians, artists could use math concepts and principals to create pattern or symmetrical designs on custom stamps to be used for ceramics or printmaking. As scientists and inventors, artists could develop unique art tools for mark making and painting. As city planners artists could collaborate to create futuristic urban landscape models. As architects they could design and engineer new structures that could be functional and aesthetically pleasing. These are just a few of the STEAM endeavors my young artists are curious to explore and try out. The possibilities would endless!
