I am a second-year teacher in need of math manipulative's. Currently, I am teaching a third grade exceptional education class.
The school I work for is a Title One School. Most of our students are on free and reduced lunch. We have many English Second Language learners.
Imagine trying to teach students with short attention spans math with limited math manipulative's, just using the standard chalk board. Hopefully, you are picturing a teacher being unsuccessful in getting the point across. Now, picture a classroom where the students with short attention spans are given an opportunity to learn a lesson taught with an overhead projector, and manipulative's made for the projector. This is the type of successful classroom I am hoping to have. With your help I will be able to develop this classroom with the overhead projector and math manipulative's I am requesting.
With your help I can go from having a classroom with limited manipulative's, and bored students, to one that has visual manipulative's and students actively engaged in learning. The overhead projector along with the manipulative set will make learning more meaningful to my students. Combining the drill and practice method with the hands on methods will provide my students an enriched learning environment.
