We are located in a low income community just outside of Salt Lake City.
We are a public school and do not receive any Title I money or funding for STEM.
Our students come from a diverse population around the world. They work hard and have been able to stay just above the Title I requirements, however due to the low income in our area, the only computer experience and exposure to a program like J.A. Biztown, most of our students receive is here at school.
We have been able to put together a First LEGO League team as an after school program. They won a 1st place trophy in Robot Design and went on to the State of Utah competition held at Weber State University and placed 17th out of 47 teams. We also use Ozobots and Drones to teach computer programming when we are not busy with First LEGO League.
My 5th grade class participates in the SIMFA Stock Market Game as well as Investwrite to try to gain additional exposure to real world applications so they can be college and career ready as they graduate high school.
My Project
My students are very creative and have amazing ideas. Being able to use a 3D printer with the computer designs will help them bring their creative ideas and imaginations come to life! My students will learn how to apply their ideas, and knowledge they create on the computer come to life. They will see real world applications in innovative ways they never thought possible in the past.
Watching A Creative Design Go From The Computer to an actual 3D image will bring their ideas to life and help to motivate them to pursue additional ideas that could have endless potential.
