This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

By the end of the season, I hope my students can reflect on their growth not only in the game of softball, but more importantly, in the recognition and growth of their characters through participating in this team game. Many of our participants through the years have never played a softball or baseball game before joining the team, so we would like to allow them to experience and develop a love for the game and an appreciation for themselves and each other. But we need your support to reach these goals!

The students I teach are a wonderful, diverse group of public middle school students, who possess varying skills of English language proficiency, and face varying degrees of social, economic, and familial adversity.

Sometimes these hardships can negatively affect their academic success at school. But all of my students have strengths that need to be recognized and fostered!

My Project

For many of our students, softball is an unfamiliar game, with all sorts of rules and skills that must be learned in a short amount of time. Our students, many of whom are still learning the game, are still very much enthusiastic and motivated to give the sport their best.

At this point, we do not have enough jerseys for every player to wear this season.

The jerseys we are requesting will ensure that we will have a full supply of jerseys, even for future seasons.

Through softball, we want each student to build softball-specific skills, but more importantly her character as well.
