Help me give my students the gift of literacy. I am asking for a selection of award winning books, a Leveled Library Mobile Storage Cart, and a Scholastic Storyworks Magazine Subscription.
I work in a Title 1 school in the city of Grand Prairie, just between Dallas and Fort Worth. I teach ELA to a very diverse group of students. I have 2 inclusion classes in which special needs students join the general education students, as well as 2 Pre-AP classes. As you can imagine, the reading interests and levels vary greatly!
I would like to offer a better reading experience by updating my classroom reading library with materials that match the interests and levels of my students.
This will ultimately allow them to become more engaged in their reading.
I would like to offer them a wider selection of reading materials, including graphic novels, popular trade books, and educational magazines. I am also in need of a book shelf to showcase these on.
My Project
This selection of texts will be provide my students an updated set of choice books to read. These books will be available for students to read in and out of the classroom.
These magazines will provide daily opportunities for my students to engage in interesting stories and while learning about things such as story plot, text structure, author's purpose, and writing literary responses.
We'll explore a variety of texts from multiple genres and cultures, allowing my students to experience the world in ways that only literature can provide.
Please help my students experience the joy of a freshly updated class library!
