My students need access to the digital world that Big Universe supplies and supports as well as audio, print, and video versions of texts utilized at their grade level.

My school is an alternative learning center for students that struggle with learning in a traditional environment.
Up until this year, these 6th, 7th, and 8th graders did not have "a place of their own" but mixed in with the 9th - 12th graders. That is about to change this coming school year. My classroom is a newly created classroom for these students so that they may sour and show their true potential. There is a plethora of reasons why a student would be placed with me, but the goals remain the same; to help these students become life long learners and productive citizens with good character. All 15 of my students are unique and talented with a variety of learning styles and diverse needs. My classroom will be filled with many opportunities for success and this project is only a part of that.
My Project
This project consists of two basic components. (1) The Big Universe Classroom subscription and (2) various literary titles my district uses in these grade levels. The Big Universe is an online literacy system. It utilizes a digital library of e-books, provides organization for easy access, and checks for understanding through quizzes. Not only that but it also has feature for students to write and publish their own literary works. If that were not enough it has several wonderful management tools for teachers. The individual titles that are being requested are titles in which my students are required to work with at a specific grade level. Not only do they have to read each of these titles but also use them in project based learning activities. Traditional teaching methods don't always work with my students so having these books in different format will provide opportunities for my students to excel.
This project will make such a positive impact on my kids and their learning.
