My Students

My students attend school in an inner-city, Title I school district. Our school has had funds reduced every year and this has taken a huge toll on everyone, students and teachers alike. I have purchased a lot of supplies on my own, but I need help with some of the other items that can be beneficial to my students. With the new health guidelines, our classroom is in need of additional supplies to help keep everyone safe.

We do a lot of hands-on learning in sixth grade and having the right tools is crucial.

I need supplies to help my students visualize friction and forces working together. I've either had to try to borrow things from another school or show a video instead of doing hands-on learning.

Watching someone else do an experience is not only boring, but the students get little, to nothing, from it. By donating to my class you are allowing my students to learn through an authentic experience. When they have fun, they remember things better and longer.

My Project

These materials will help students have fun, hands-on learning, while in the classroom. Due to COVID, we are having to change how we do things. More activities are limited and teachers, like myself, are having to be creative in ways we never have imagined. With these supplies, science will be fun and exciting like before. Students will be able to do experiments and learn with their groups, even though we are stuck in the classroom. These supplies will lead my students back to loving science while they learn within the classroom. We use this type of learning while doing forces, motion, gravity and inertia. These tools will allow the students to see how things work and predict what will happen next.
