Bring Remote Lessons to My Civics Class

My Students

I work with an incredibly diverse group of students and they always keep me on my toes. I am trying hard to constantly engage them and I want to bring them lessons they will enjoy. I work in a high needs district and this would truly benefit the population I serve. My students learn in many different ways so I am hoping to bring in new resources this year that will add to my lessons and ensure every student walks away with valuable information. I am going to be fully remote so this online resource will be incredibly beneficial to my students this year.

My Project

Like many teachers, I will be starting my year completely remote. I used the Scholastic Upfront magazines and the accompanying online materials throughout the year last year and it was an incredible resource for my Civics class. I teach in Massachusetts and we have started a new Civics initiative to make our students more aware of the current events happening in the world around them.

They also give students the ability to analyze important Supreme Court decisions that are still relevant today.

Overall, the UpFront magazines put out by the New York Times help students gain the skills necessary to be productive citizens in the future and understand their rights.

This will provide my students access to the remote copies of the magazine and teacher resources for each of the 14 issues they release this school year. Any help in making this possible would be truly appreciated. Thank you so much!
