My students need computers and a color printer to complete various projects that use programs such as Comic Life. They need to print posters to share their work w/peers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class of students with Autism need full access to computer programs that will help them to improve their social and interpersonal skills. You can help them to Bring Out Their Best by supporting this modest proposal. A color printer will let them present their projects to others.
We are located in a low-income area of Los Angeles.
All of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Many are English learners and come from immigrant families. Like many schools in Los Angeles, we have been severely impacted by a loss of funding sources. Our students deserve all of the benefits that 21st century technology can provide, but these things cost.
My students are enthusiastic learners and work hard to Bring Out Their Best. However, as we all know, students with Autism face additional challenges. Social skills, interpersonal communications, and expected behaviors are often difficult for them to accomplish. These items will be used with dedication and gratefulness.
My Project
The computers and color printer will give my students the opportunity to use programs like Comic Life and others to create visual guides that will demonstrate the skills they need to be vital members of society. They will also be able to access on-line teaching sites such as Social Express that further enhance and reinforce these same skills. The students are already familiar with these features, but the additional computers will let them be able to work in more groups, or perhaps independently, on more projects.
Many studies have been made that show the amazing positive impact that the use of technology will have on helping students of all abilities.
This is even more crucial for students in the Autism Spectrum. These computers will give my students a user-friendly incentive to build critical skills that will help them to grow into valued members of society.
