My students are a fun, energetic group of sixth graders, attending a Title I intermediate school in Connecticut. They come from all areas of town and are mostly from an urban setting. This year, our entire district receives free lunch. Unfortunately, funding is extremely limited and gaining access to resources can be challenging. I want my classroom to be a place where my students can comfortably learn, in a safe and exciting environment, but I also want to give them every opportunity possible to help them succeed.
Each year, our school showcases student work in a culmination activity called Festival of Arts. Our students display work in all subjects though various artistic mediums. Families are invited to celebrate and walk through the school, stamping their "passports" through each hallway.
These basic supplies will ensure that students have what they need to incorporate art into all of our Festival of Arts projects.
Glue, tape, colored paper, paint, butcher paper, and markers are essential for students to create their displays. In previous years, our theme has been Ancient Egypt. Students have created incredible projects, from death masks to pyramids to King Tut's burial chamber.
While we haven't chosen our theme for this year yet, my students are looking forward to creating Ancient Egyptian death masks. Whatever theme we decide on, none of this would be possible without these supplies. Thank you for considering our art project!
