Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Located in South Brooklyn, our school serves grades 6-8 children from all over the world. We are a Title 1 school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. With 4 dual language programs at our school we embrace all languages and cultures. As a Magnet school students are able to express their creativity by participating in Dance, Music, Art, Visual Arts, and more.
In my classroom all students are encouraged to celebrate their native language and culture while learning English and American history.
All of my students are English Language Learners. They speak Spanish, English, Russian, Uzbek, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Urdu, Tajik, Armenian, Mandarin, Cantonese and Arabic. Our goal each day is to build language proficiency while learning American History.
My Project
I am requesting several replacement parts to get our 3D printers working again. Students will be able to design, create and innovate using our Afinia printers. Currently, students are working on designing replicas of Native American artifacts to accompany our unit study of Native Americans. By using 3D technology, students will be able to practice using design technology and gain valuable experience with troubleshooting.
Technology is an amazing way to get our ESL students motivated and allows students of all language proficiency levels to be successful.
Students will have an opportunity to see their own ideas come to life and possibly inspire a future career in design, engineering and technology.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
