Mr. L. from Baltimore MD is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need an LCD Projector to incorporate multimedia in the study of geometry. Multimedia will allow them to broaden their understanding and appreciation of mathematics through the exploration of different real-life applications as well as through the consumption and creation of multimedia projects.

I teach 11th grade geometry to students who have already taken Algebra 2. These are talented students who will benefit from presentations that incorporate diverse media (and not only my enthusiastic but conventional delivery). We serve a majority (96%) African-American student population that strives to prepare for and gain access to post-secondary education.
We are housed in a historic building steeped in the best traditions of our city. However, there is limited access to classroom presentation technology that can be used on a daily basis. The district provides access to a library of online videos and I have developed a collection of slide shows. Additionally, there is access to the internet in the classroom, but we lack the ability to project the information through a computer to the whole class.
When an LCD projector is introduced, students will be able to benefit from a media-rich instructional environment that is more likely to effectively highlight the relationship between the mathematical content presented in class with its real-world applications. By presenting students mathematics' content that have a strong visual component, such as fractals, I intend to help them become more engaged; increase their performance and improve their attitude toward mathematics.
Your help will ensure that my students will have the opportunity to develop a better understanding of mathematics and its impact our daily lives. You may also help them increase their academic skills and be ready to take advantage of future academic opportunities that may prove to be key in their future professional lives.
