Kindergarten has changed and I want to bring back some of the most important aspects of learning in my classroom. Children need more time to play and develop social skills. Through more play based centers and activities in the classroom, the children in my classroom will have the ability to expand their learning with new play based materials! It is my goal to find more hands on materials to foster their learning and provide them with more developmentally appropriate tools to help them learn.
By creating an inviting learning environment, their classroom experience (some their very first) will be one they remember!
The children at our school are all eligible for free breakfast and lunch and some live in challenging economic situations. As a teacher who believes early childhood education is the key foundation to success in a child, it is my goal to provide the students I work with, a wealth of play based items, learning supplies, and social interactive toys to make their learning experience an outstanding one!
My Project
As a kindergarten teacher the expectations to academically prepare children sometimes overtakes the importance of the social and emotional components of play in the classroom. Through this project, my goal is to help children play more along with academically preparing them for first grade.
Through more play and STEM based learning activities, children will have more of an opportunity to think more critically, learn through play, and engage with others to meet social and emotional goals!
Students with all different learning capabilities will have the opportunity to expand their learning possibilities. Each child learns in different and unique ways. By allowing children to engage in play and STEM activities often times children can teach each other new ways to understand something too!
