My Students

I work with Alternate Assessment High School students. They are all classified as special needs students. They do not take the Regents exams like their school mates, but they work just as hard if not harder. Learning and retaining information does not come easy to them but they are always so eager to learn and try. Some of them have been with me for more than 4 years. For others this is their first year in High School. Some of my students are non-verbal or wheelchair bound, while others have no physical limitations. They are so patient with each other and caring, it has really morphed into a close knit group. They are truly a group of great kids.

My Project

As a traditional high school we have a lot of resources for our regents bound student. However, our Alternate Assessment students need more variety. The materials offered on Teachers Pay Teachers are vibrant, versatile, multi-modal, and more importantly during this time of remote learning and teaching, DIGITAL. My students will be able to access, work on and in digital content that I haven't the skill to create myself. They would have access to the skills and ideas of thousands of teachers around the country, who have experience working with this very special population.
