My students need living animals to observe the life cycles to go alone with our science curriculum. They learn so much from seeing them with their very own eyes.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember science in elementary school? Did you have live animals in your class? If you did, then you will know how important it is to my students.
My students are in need of a fun, exciting learning environment.
Our school has limited funds which makes "specials" limited to gym, science, or dance. We have lost all our other extra classes such as art, and music.
Theses children have tough living quarters, sharing small spaces with many members of their families. When they come to school, it is their home and I like to my science lab fun and exciting for them.
My Project
We study insects for a good portion of the year. We study life cycles of many different animals as well. We love to read about them but seeing it happen before our eyes, makes it real for us. The students learn to take care of their habitats, feed them, and watch them grow and change over and over again. I am requesting coupons that I send throughout the year to receive live tadpoles, mealworm's, fish, and other insects that we will be studying and observing.
It is so important to have these resources in Science.
When the children come to my class, I love when they say, "I love Science". If we do not have the materials that we need, and are just working out of a notebook, science will not be an environment that is fun and engaging for students. Please bring our lab to life.
