Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Oh boy, where do I begin?! My students are the reason I come to work everyday and have shaped me into the educator I am today. They are constantly keeping me on my toes and creating an open and flexible learning environment. I cherish the fact that everyday is a new day and I never know quite how the day will go, but I know as a community we will get to the finish line together. My goal as an educator, is to be the best role model and mentor to my students in order to guide my students as they transition into high school.
My Project
Working in an urban school district it can often be difficult to have flexible seating options for our students unless teachers bring it in. As a result, students are often left sitting in hard uncomfortable desks that cause much discomfort and allowing it difficult to focus for extended amounts of time.
How can we expect our students to learn in an environment that they are not comfortable in?
If we want our students to be successful then we need to first provide alternative methods of seating spaces for students to learn in. My choice of high top and wobble seating allows movement and flexible seating for my wide range of students.
