Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Living in a rural community, agriculture is a vital part of our local economy. My students range from 7th through 12th grades who see agriculture around them every day. All 7th and 8th graders will come through my door for a semester each year to learn introductory lessons about agriculture. This allows all students to get a taste of agriculture education before entering high school.
In my classroom, my students learn a broad range of information about agriculture, food, and natural resources.
Through these subjects, my classes teach students a wide variety of skills, including science, math, communications, leadership, management, and technology through hands-on activities and projects.
My Project
As we prepare for the holidays, our agriculture program makes plans to collect wreath making materials to allow our students the creativity of making holiday wreaths and center pieces. Not only does this allow our students to get hands-on experience in the floral/nursery industry, but allows them to express their creativity and marketing skills to the local community.
With the purchase of these supplies, our students will have an easier time making the best holiday products possible!
These material will be used right away, as the holidays are quickly upon us. The students are excited and ready for the challenge of making this our best year yet of wreath and center piece construction!
