Help me give my students ink for our printer to be able to print our their multimedia projects to put on display and bring joy to our classroom and school!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a teacher at an inner-city school region with a large, diverse population of students with special needs from low-income families. The students at our school are eager learners looking to find a safe and secure place to learn. Many of our students are from immigrant families from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Honduras, and other South American countries that are faced with many challenges. Our school provides a home for a diverse and cultural community. Many of our students participate in the Head Start Program.
Our school looks to promote diversity and inclusion in a Title I school in which our students come from diverse backgrounds such as very low-income families, at many times below the poverty line.
Ninety percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is located in the heart of one of the lowest socioeconomic neighborhoods where many parents do not speak English. Within my classroom, I also have several students that are English Language Learners as well as special needs students with a variety of challenges such as ADHD and learning disabilities. These conditions can make it difficult for students to learn, and they can benefit from any aid or assistance.
My Project
Currently our school has very little classrooms participating in person. As teachers, we are asked to report to the school building even if our classes our in virtual learning. However, the few classes in our school do not have much to look at as our walls are bare of student work. Currently, our printer only has black ink and does not allow me to print the colorful work and amazing multimedia project that our students are completing at home. This makes our school dull and colorless for those that are attending physical school.
With ink, I will be able to print the digital work and multimedia projects that my students are doing and be able to decorate the hallways with all their amazing work, to bring joy back in our school again.
It will make it easier to print all that things that I need when trying to keep also records of the work that our students are doing. With this ink, we won't have to worry about walking boring hallways. Rather, we will be able to create an exciting learning environment for those students that are actually present every day. Bring the color back into our world!
