This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school is in a culturally-diverse, high-poverty area in Durham, NC. We are a Title I school and 100% of our students receive free lunch as well as breakfast.
Many of our students do not have access to the supplies and safe environment that students do elsewhere.
We are working to ensure that the Media Center is a place for students to know that they are safe and welcome. Our mission is to act as a community gathering space for students and staff to support their goals.
My Project
This project, if funded, will give my students access to a printer that can print high-quality images in color. We have an upcoming research project that requires students to include visual references with proper citations. The printer we currently have access to unfortunately only prints in black and white, and the school does not have the resources to provide us with a printer that can print in color.
Our students deserve access to the resources they need to create colorful, engaging reports and show off the hard work they have put in for their research projects.
Providing our students with this printer will help not only this class, but future classes as well. Using the ink we have requested, the kids will be able to print in color, and since the printer is wireless, it will be a seamless process.
An inkjet printer would benefit every one of my students. Not only can they print their work in color, but I will be able to create more colorful and engaging worksheets and anchor charts! Additionally, learning to use the new printer will improve my students' digital literacy skills. Help me give them to power to print their work in the full colors they intended.
