My Project

"Play is often talked about as it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is a way to cope with life and to prepare for adulthood. Playing is a way to solve problems and to express feelings. In fact, play is the real work of childhood." Television icon Fred Rogers, from the book You Are Special.

I want to encourage and prioritize unstructured, free form play for my students, recognizing its vital role in their development and well-being.

Why Play Matters...

Development:

Play is crucial for children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.

Creativity and Imagination:

Unstructured play allows children to explore their creativity and imagination without constraints.

Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking:

Play encourages children to solve problems, think critically, and make decisions.

Social Skills:

Play helps children develop social skills, learn to cooperate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.

Emotional Regulation:

Play can help children learn to manage their emotions, develop resilience, and cope with stress.
