My Project
I am requesting crayons, coloring pencils, and markers today to keep my scholars engaged in English. I am also requesting a TPT gift card so that I can buy materials, interactive notebooks, and curriculum that are more interactive and can help my scholars practice different skills that are needed in the English classroom. I recently introduced my scholars to "color by numbers". This activity allows them to choose the correct answers and then color each answer by number. My scholars have conveyed to me that they enjoy this activity and would like to do it a lot more. The challenge that I am running across is that I have some dried out markers, and I don't always have the right colors.
The goals that I have for this project are for my scholars to complete assignments that are fun and therapeutic.
I want my scholars to enjoy English again. In the world we live in now, our teens are very distracted and are used to getting things that are immediate. Coloring and having access to engaging activities allows my scholars to stay relaxed, stay on task, and enjoy class. I also plan on introducing my scholars to cuttable paper activities as a next step.
Finally, what makes my scholars special are that they are vocal about what it is that they enjoy, and I notice that the color by number activities allow them to enjoy going back and checking their work. I know that this project will allow my scholars to have materials that they can use, and I know that this activity will allow my scholars to create more core memories.
