My Project
As second graders develop into readers, it can be difficult for them to find books they enjoy reading and see themselves in. When I discovered the Ana and Andrew book series set in Washington, DC, I felt this would be a perfect series for our students to practice their reading skills.
Ana and Andrew have experiences that our students relate to: visiting the National Museum of African American History and Culture, connecting with their heritage in Ghana, learning about George Washington Carver, and more.
It is my hope that reading about characters who feel relatable to our students will get them more excited about reading and implementing all the literacy skills they learn in class.
