My Project

Materials for urban agriculture are necessary for our Sustainable Systems program. Students are learning to create and maintain agribusinesses that will contribute to local food production. Students are currently using pots to grow leafy greens and root vegetables for fall planting.

Many Black and Hispanic neighborhoods in Kansas City are classified as food deserts.

Students are gaining skills that can solve the food crisis while increasing community engagement. These materials will help them build and maintain food-producing gardens.

Students at KIPP receive an education that earns them more than just a diploma. KIPPsters gain a wealth of knowledge from various courses, including our Sustainable Systems, that will prepare them for college or careers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
