My Students

Many of my students are experiencing school for the very first time when they come to kindergarten and some are new to the country as well. I want to enhance the required curriculum with a variety of tools that will enhance their learning experiences. They are required to use computers but I want to give them more hands-on learning to cement ideas and give real connection.

We are a low-income area with 98% of students receiving free meals.

Some live out of hotels or shelters and/or have a lack of support at home. It would mean so much to me to offer them a full library of beautiful books and games to use for learning, as well as for earned quiet time. I want to offer ALL of my students as many resources that they can feel, see and grow from all year long.

My Project

Is it fair that some students are at a disadvantage the moment they step into a classroom for the first time? NO! I want my students to have all of the resources of an A+ school classroom...to get them off on the right foot and discover the joys of learning.

My emphasis this year will be to teach using fun, yet practical methods, kind of "old school" if you will.

I am required to have my students use technology but I want to have hands-on learning through small group learning with games, manipulatives, and independent play. The items that I am requesting will strengthen and enhance their learning experiences and hopefully give better retention and enthusiasm for more!
