Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our elementary school is a small Title I school located in East Los Angeles.

On March 13th we ended school so abruptly, it was a shock to our entire school community.

LAUSD has continued to feed students with the Grab and Go program. We started remote learning right away from the start of school closures! The sudden shift of in-class learning to virtual learning has created a learning gap for my first grade students. I have continuously posted art assignments on Google Classroom to keep my students engaged and to reduce their stress level during these unprecedented times.

My Project

My goal is to provide crayons to my students so that they have the opportunity to express themselves while they create art. Providing them these tools will help ease the stress level they are encountering while trying to cope with this pandemic and remote learning. Furthermore, the computer ink will be used to print student digital platform data reports. Much of my students' remote learning requires them to access digital platforms and giving me the ability to print reports would help me manage their progress.

My hope is that my students maintain their mental health by finding ways to express themselves.

These trying times can take a toll on our young students. Please help me give my students these resources and bring some joy into their new home learning life!
