Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Through my educational courses, career, and experience with different students, I have learned and experienced that not all students learn the same. As a teacher, my job is to cater the different needs of my students so that they are successful. Many of the behaviors that our students experience are due to transitioning. They are asked and encouraged to continue to the next task or location, but they are merely attempting to settle in the previous location.

"You can't keep a star from shining and {our} star is going to shine bright," Aljamain Sterling.

By having lamps, colorful hanging lights, and a colorful and positive rug, students would benefit greatly. Students would feel that their classroom environment is more welcoming and fun. This would help build their intrinsic motivation, and show better results in their learning.

In order to have less behavior problems, positive reinforcement is used as well as praising the positive things that others do. By providing a superb student the title of "Star of the Week" they would enjoy a special carpet chair to learn in as a reward for their behavior. Others would have the opportunity to sit on a positive smiley face to remind themselves of positive choices and behaviors to earn the Star of the Week chair in the future.
