Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My biggest challenge is to build two languages with my students. They are bilingual students trying to keep a solid foundation in their native Spanish language, and learning English at the same time.
My students are thinkers, creators and fighters!
They come to school and escape from their lives at home, and are able to create such vivid stories that transport them to other places and times. My students are on free and reduced lunch, are not exposed to cultural or community events- but have a motivation to learn more.
My Project
My students will use these books daily from independent reading time, to partner reading time, to our end of the day quite time- they will always be used. They will use these books to transport them to new places and spaces. These books will be used to help my students become thinkers and problem solvers. The fact is that books change lives, just think about yourself and the impact they have had on you.
I want my students to become successful individuals who are educated, well spoken, and able to thrive in this world.
I know it seems like I have high hopes, but books can help my students do all these things. Please help us!
