I am a first-grade teacher in a wonderful school in Wisconsin. My students are very special, and I just love going to school every day to see the sparkle in their little 5- to 8-year-old eyes. I also get to connect with students of various ages during and after school. I truly have the most special job in the world and treasure every day with my students! We participate in so many fun activities throughout the year, and our hope is to add even more.
My Project
I have taken special training classes to work with students who have dyslexia and other learning challenges. We meet every single day, and use fantastic multi-sensory approaches to sharpen our reading, writing, listening, and spelling skills!
It is a treat to work with these students, and they are growing by leaps and bounds, using super fun, hands-on learning strategies!
I am asking for some classroom basics for my exceptional learners including rubber bands, glue, hole punches, book rings, stickers, and organizer trays. The book rings and hole punches are for us to make our flashcard/red word rings. The students get to make and use these themselves an, they love to do it! The rubber bands are to hold our vowel tents and sticks together. The glue and glue sticks are for making our daily special morpheme, grapheme, and phoneme projects, and for making glue dot letters to trace with our fingers. The stickers are for special rewards. They have been doing so well with their spelling lists and I want to be able to celebrate their success with these fun stickers! The organizer tray is to hold all of our special tools like red crayons, green crayons, pencils, highlighters, erasers, vowel sticks, and other goodies neatly on the table that we work at. The tall organizer is to hold each of the different types of papers that we work with each day, like big house paper, small house paper, red word paper, word dictation paper, sentence dictation paper, and poetry pages, so they are ready for the students to pull out and work with. Having all of these classroom basics ready to go each day will make our special dyslexia classes run smoothly so that my students can grab exactly what they need, and we can accomplish a lot!
