My Students

I teach about 500 elementary students each week. Half of our school is a gifted magnet program, and the other half are students from low-income neighborhoods around our school.

The students have so much energy and passion, but that often makes it difficult to focus on the lesson.

My students are working on improving their social skills along with their academic lessons. I try to give them materials and lessons that help them learn through play. That keeps them engaged and helps them want to learn.

My Project

Our classroom is very old, outdated and just all around lacking in visual appeal. I would like to inspire and engage my students by updating and brightening our classroom. We have an old chalkboard in the back of the room that I never use because it needs refurbishing.

The contact chalkboard paper will help make the old chalkboard usable again.

The LED strip lights will allow us to create different moods in our learning space. Sometimes the overhead lights in the classroom are too harsh or bright.

Help me bring our music to life with different lighting options that match the mood of the music we are listening to. These lights will help inspire my students as they listen to music of different genres by providing a more full immersion sensory experience.
