My Project

Books are such a wonderful tool to help support children's language skills! However, with the preschool and special needs populations that I work with, listening to stories/books to completion can be quite a challenging task. I am hoping to improve my students' overall engagement with stories by providing fun, hands-on games/toys that supplement the books being read from day to day. My overarching purpose in utilizing games/toys in correlation with book read-alouds is to increase the level of sustained attention to listening tasks while promoting the idea that listening to stories is exciting! Reading books is such a critical piece to educational success across all levels of education. I want to ensure that I am doing my part to encourage a love for literacy and books in even the youngest of learners.
