This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The carpet, bubble machine, organization material, and various fidgets will support special education students building-wide on the West Side of Chicago. The students face various and extensive challenges throughout the day and range in disabilities including behavioral, learning, and emotional. We need this project funded to enhance learning through the necessary materials for their education. Key things that can be done to have a successful functioning classroom for my students range from organization, color coding, visually appealing materials, and sensory space. Research has shown that when students have an inviting environment to learn in, they can grow so much more.
Our school is high poverty and cannot afford to purchase enhancement supplies.
My students attend a public elementary school that has a high number of students in special education on the West Side of Chicago. The area is considered high poverty, and our school does not have available funds to help enhance this area of my students' academic needs to make them successful students.
