Brighten Our Room with Color!

My students need class sets of crayons, markers, colored pencils, and caddies to hold them all!

This project is fully funded

I am a Kindergarten teacher in a very low income neighborhood in Florida. Our families cannot afford school supplies and the teachers are provided with minimal materials. We buy what we can with our own money, but it does not last forever. Our curriculum teaches children to express themselves on paper in any way they can. Most of the children enter our school with no previous knowledge of the alphabet or the significance of print. We encourage them to draw pictures at the beginning of the school year in order to express ideas. They then begin to label their pictures as the year progresses. Crayons, markers, and colored pencils are a hot commodity at our school and they go quickly, as they break and get lost. If we could have a large supply of writing materials at the ready, the children would not have to fight over colors and would be able to use fresh new crayons and markers. Your donation would make a huge difference in the learning of 20 kindergarten children. They have so much creativity and not enough means to express it. Having access to new crayons would brighten their world in a way you would not imagine.
