Brighten Back to School for Students With Unique Needs

Help me give my students craft supplies and visuals for group instruction to learn about the calendar, schedule, and weather.

My Students

I have a special needs classroom with 10 students with varying disabilities including physical, mental, behavioral, and intellectual. They are grades K-7, all in one classroom, and have individual needs and goals. Each student has a different ability level and is on a different grade level academically. They really need support to reach their goals with materials and programs. I have two students that need assistance moving and walking. A lot of them need one-on-one support to complete work and need hand-over-hand assistance to trace or cut.

My Project

I am requesting several materials to engage students with special needs during their craft/fine motor activities and morning group instruction. I requested pocket charts for our daily calendar that include the date, season, weather, day of the week, month of the year, and special events. Another chart will give students a visual of their daily schedule.

Having visuals around the class is important for students to know what is coming throughout the day and particularly helps students with autism.

We use paint, glue, and other materials to make crafts each week. Our craft is always based around our science or social studies theme and aids learning.
