Help me give my students the potential to learn in an engaging environment after the impact of the coronavirus on learning this past year! These activity centers will focus on small group instruction, to better reach each student.
My students are hardworking and very creative! These students have a variety of unique challenges. These challenges include autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral struggles. The special needs of my students means that they need a few more accommodations in the classroom so that they can be super successful! My students are excited to learn and they work hard every day to do exactly that.
As an educator, it is my main goal to have creative and fluid lessons to keep our students engaged.
One of the ways that we are able to meet the needs of our students is by creating individualized education plans, which means I have to be adaptive in my thinking for each student in the classroom!
My Project
Students who struggle with abstract thinking can make the leap with the assistance of strategic visuals and manipulatives. With these resources, our kids will have the tools they need to bridge the cognitive gap between concrete and abstract thinking. They will work together with these resources, learning from and with each other.
I'm requesting class sets of both student sized dry erase boards with the coordinate plane printed on them.
These tactile approaches to graphing and slope will help my students comprehend on a conceptual level. For understanding integers, a difficult leap for many students,
I'm requesting vertical number lines that will stick down on the edge of each desk, allowing kids to see and touch the concept that -4 is bigger than -5. The special needs of our students mean that we, as educators must endeavor to have creative and fluid lessons to keep our students engaged. These resources directly relate to helping students to continue their social-emotional and academic learning in light of COVID-19 because it gives them a fun approach to life.
With all the negativity around Covid-19, I want my students to feel excited when coming to school. I want them to have a brighter perspective, which will enhance their learning because they will WANT to learn!
