it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our K–5 Special Education classroom, every day is a small miracle in motion. Our students — many with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental differences — come to school full of potential, but they need tools that match the way they learn and grow.
This project is focused on providing our students with the supplies and sensory supports they need to feel safe, engaged, and empowered.
For many of our children, basic items like crayons, adaptive scissors, or even a comfortable seat make all the difference. Sensory toys, fidgets, weighted lap pads, and visual communication boards aren’t extras — they’re essential tools that help our students regulate emotions, express their needs, and participate in learning.
We’re also building a classroom environment that supports life skills, social play, and inclusion. This means investing in hands-on learning materials, social-emotional toys, and simple adapted books that help our learners access reading and math in a way that works for them.
These supplies won’t just stock shelves — they’ll spark communication, calm, creativity, and confidence. Every item will be used daily, carefully selected to support our most vulnerable learners.
