My Project

My students are medically fragile and range in age from 4-19 years of age. They are too sick to attend regular school and I instruct each child individually in their home to meet their individual needs. Most are nonverbal and visually impaired. I have selected items to help each child learn the concept of cause and effect to encourage them to interact with their world.

Providing opportunities for my medically complex students to interact with their world opens up a world of possibilities.

Adding colorful materials to light box allow my students to actually visualize the lesson topic. Students are able to gain independence when lessons and exposed to them in a meaningful way.

The first goal for all of my students to be able to communicate with others. This process begins by learning the concept of cause and effect. Sensitive switches attached to a colorful toy allows my student to activate the toy. This simple interaction is very important because learning their actions create a reaction is the first step to communication. Giving my students a way to communicate is not only life changing for them but, also for their families.
