Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school with many needs. With the support of the community and staff, we assist and encourage our students to reach their individual goals and surpass any negative factors. My class consists of 1st and 2nd grade students with a wide range of learning levels. Most students are far below grade level and require direct adult support or guidance to accomplish grade-level tasks. I begin each lesson by motivating and encouraging them to do their best. Students know there will be a celebration at the end of the lesson as long as they truly try. This results in teamwork and a mutual desire to be successful not only as an individual but as a class. My class consists of 10 incredible students that despite their disabilities of Orthopedic Impairment, Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, or Developmental Delay come to school every day eager to learn. My students try to reach their goals every day.

Our class motto is "It is ok not to know, but it's not ok not to try".

My Project

With the support of the Epson WorkForce Pro Color Inkjet Printer and ink cartridges I will be able to create numerous eye-catching visual support sheets that my students may use independently when completing an assignment. Students, for example, may have individual 100 charts, graphic organizers, pictured letter sound papers and high frequency lists. In addition, I will be able to create whole group and individual visual support schedules in order for students to become more independent and be more receptive to transitioning from one lesson to the next.

The colored printer will give me the opportunity to create individual academic tools that not only will captivate their attention, but also make them excited about learning, tackling their challenges and ultimately reaching their goals.

Furthermore, I will be able to make colorful posters that will display the focus of a lesson and the key points.
