My Students
Amazing, vivacious, curious, great big bundles of energy.
My kids are mostly from a low socioeconomic background and come from a plethora of ethnic, cultural and academic backgrounds.
My school serves students who have a variety of disabilities and as a result a wide range of needs (scaffolds and differentiation that is required for their success).
This project is specifically for the students who participate in the Yearbook Committee at my school. We are trying to expose our kids to a variety of skill sets such as editing, photoshop, photography, interviewing skills and much more. We have a diverse group of students from different backgrounds, countries, languages, and dialects to create a yearbook that exemplified not only them but the entire graduating class of 2020.
Many of these students have overcome obstacles you couldn't imagine to get this far. Your donation will go a very long way in helping me show my kids the many ways they can be amazing! Supporting this initiative will also introduce and hone in on various multi-modal skills that are so crucial in today's society.
My Project
I teach in a Title I school within a low-income neighborhood. I am requesting a Macbook and a camera to give my students access to tech that they never had before.
The COVID pandemic shed let on many social ills within our community; one of them being that our students are behind the technological curve.
They lack access to simple resources such as computers, WiFi, etc. so they were disadvantaged when we switched to remote learning. As a result, my students struggled with navigating simple tasks on Google Classroom (turning in assignments, accessing resources) have been using my own personal device to offer tutorials and tech advice to my students. I selected an Apple product specifically because that is the brand being used by the NYC DOE.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
