My project is all about bridging students learning gaps in math in a fun and meaningful and engaging way. When learning is fun, students want to learn, love to learn, and retain what they learn longer.
As a special education teacher I assess my students and use the data to target the skills my students need extra practice with in order to master the math standard.
The easy-to-use Bridge the Gap Math Practice Cards by Lakeshore provide practice with a prerequisite skill on the front and an essential skill on the back. The cards are color-coded to give students the targeted math practice they need at just the right level! I can choose a skill to target and invite my students in a small group setting to complete the activity on their own whiteboard. The tower games will help my students master multiplication, division, addition and subtraction math facts in a fun and engaging way.
These materials and games will be a great resource for helping my students bridge their learning gaps in math and retain what they are learning in class. They will be a great, ready-made resource to use in my math groups, and it adds variety to the other resources I have.
My students are young and their minds are eager and ready to learn. I want to give them the love of learning while they are young. These materials will not only teach essential, targeted math standards in a positive, fun way, but will teach my students teamwork and social skills as well!
