it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What a huge adjustment we have been forced to live through. The closure of the schools, businesses, and community have been so traumatic for our families. My students and I have been forced to shelter-at-home and to adjust to learning at home without sufficient technology or materials. The students miss school, their friends, and their teacher. Learning at home has been such a unfortunate challenge.
My Project
2020 has been an unprecedented year. Our lives and families abruptly came to a halt and the community around us closed down for the first time in our lives. Teachers and students were forced to navigate on-line teaching and learning with such uncertainty and confusion.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I want to be more prepared to teach my new, incoming second graders.
I want to provide them with learning materials that will help improve our distance learning experiences, giving each of the students a chance to succeed with virtual learning.
I will use the foam sheets, chenille stems, and beads to create counting rekenreks for each student to provide them with a counting tool to help them with adding and subtracting. The pencils, highlighters, scissors, rulers, crayons and glue sticks will help the students complete school work from home. The word books will help support their learning with high frequency words. The white boards with markers and erasers will be a great tool to use during Zoom meetings so the students can demonstrate and easily share their work.
