Mrs. Pascual from Savannah GA is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students a slab roller in ceramics class to consistently produce uniform clay slabs, facilitating exploration of diverse hand-building methods for both sculptural and functional ceramic projects, enhancing creativity and efficiency.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
What I admire most about my students is their eagerness to make a positive impact in their community. Their enthusiasm for learning extends beyond the classroom, and they possess a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully to the world around them. Introducing a slab roller into our ceramics class presents a remarkable opportunity to harness this enthusiasm and channel it into a project that not only enhances their artistic skills but also instills a profound sense of social responsibility.
With the slab roller, my students will be able to transform clay into perfectly formed coffee mugs, each imbued with their unique creativity and passion.
As they craft these mugs with care and attention to detail, they will not only refine their technical abilities in ceramics but also develop a deeper understanding of the power of their art to effect change. The prospect of creating these mugs for a cause, to be auctioned off with the proceeds donated to a local soup kitchen, ignites a sense of purpose and solidarity among them.
Through this project, my students will witness firsthand the impact of their efforts as they contribute to alleviating hunger and supporting those in need within our community. Beyond the tangible outcomes of their ceramic creations, they will cultivate empathy, compassion, and a sense of civic duty that will stay with them long after the project is completed. By integrating philanthropy into their artistic endeavors, the slab roller becomes more than just a tool—it becomes a catalyst for social awareness and collective action, empowering my students to make a tangible difference in the lives of others while honing their craft.
