We are an amazing group of fourth-grade students in central Indiana who work hard every day, focusing on growth and learning from mistakes. My students know that mistakes are an opportunity, not something to be ashamed of.
Many of our school's students are from refugee families who come from countries such as Burma, Syria, Somalia, and Uganda.
Our Burmese population is our largest refugee group, and after more than a decade of supporting these families, we have students of all levels of English proficiency, from fluent speaker to those just beginning.
Please consider supporting this fantastic group!
My Project
This project seeks to improve student attendance. I cannot teach students if they are home sick from school, and I believe an air purifier will help prevent students from becoming ill during the winter months.
Germs make kids sick, and I'm on a quest to eliminate them from my classroom.
I understand this will never happen 100% of the time, but this project will help control some of the factors that can damage kids' help. When there are 25-30 bodies in a room all day, we are sharing more than our ideas and thoughts. Germs get passed around, and significant dust builds up. In February, I had five students who were out of school due to illness for at least a week. Students who are not at school miss significant instruction, and I feel the responsibility to try to combat this issue.
Please consider helping me improve the health of my classroom. We will be forever grateful!
