My students are in an all-day kindergarten class and even though it is a long day, my students are always happy and excited to come to school...just as I am to be at school to be their teacher.
My students live in a low-income area. 95% of my students have free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. My classroom is filled with 23 lively kindergartners who are super happy to be at school. I enjoy coming to work each morning to see their happy faces and warm hugs

Even though I have been teaching for 15 years, I am always looking for ways to improve myself as an educator.
I am either looking for ways to help me advance my knowledge on classroom management strategies, how to communicate with my students and their parents, ways to help teach my students to be on grade level.
I would love the opportunity to increase my personal understanding of mindfulness & meditation in order to share this practice with students in my classroom and run a weekly mindfulness & meditation club for students.
This collection of professional development materials is key to effectively implementing mindfulness & meditation with my students. Each resource has been selected to deepen my understanding of mindfulness & meditation and the implementation of the practice in an educational setting.
A mindfulness & meditation practice will help my students look within in order to become aware of and embody the connection between their emotions, thoughts and bodily sensations. Understanding these mind-body connections will help my students regulate their emotions, which leads to improved behavior, lower stress levels, better relationships, and a greater ability to focus. At the end of the school year, I hope my students will carry the skills they are learning in other areas of their lives.
