Worrying about food, money, transportation, and clothing are adult worries, yet many of the students at my school face these "grown-up" problems each day. In spite of the challenges they face, they constantly rise to the occasion and frequently blow me away with their ability to learn.
My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Our school has a very high ESOL population and free/reduced lunch. Some have, and some do not. It is my job to level their playing field so that all have a chance to be successful.
Through a hands-on, exciting, and active learning environment, my kindergarten students strive to do their best every day. My students are active, excited, super sweet kindergarteners who love to learn!
My Project
Breathe, Move, Learn & Play! This project is geared to refill, replenish and enhance our healthy learning environment as well as add fun tools to reinforce learning. We have two air purifiers in our classroom to keep our air clean and germ free. They work wonderfully and have helped keep my children healthy and air clean! We would like to have more air filters so we can continue to have the cleanest air possible, especially during this Coronavirus pandemic.
Having many different types of manipulatives in the classroom is key to my students learning.
My students will be able to use these manipulatives to practice math, reading, enhance fine motor skills, and eye hand coordination.
They will use the Mini Doodle Boards in small groups and independently during phonics and math instruction. The Magnetic Alphabet board, Muffin Match, Alpha pops, Number blocks and Number pops will all be used during independent learning time to reinforce skills learned. They can use these independently during our differentiated instruction time where they can practice skills that have been taught.
The Foam Floor Tiles will provide the children with a flexible seating option and easy to clean soft surface while they work from the floor. Chair Bands will help those with bouncy feet that choose to sit in chairs. The pencil grips will teach correct way to hold pencil and the straw dispenser will offer instant sharpened pencils as needed. All these items will help keep our class breathing clean, moving free, learning through play and having fun!
