This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social-emotional learning (SEL) and mindfulness helps kids identify their feelings, understand and communicate with others, build strong relationships, and make good, empathetic decisions. SEL focuses on essential life skills. For instance, SEL teaches kids ways to improve empathy, emotion regulation, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, communication skills, relationships with friends and family, self-knowledge, and self-control. With these skills, kids gain a better understanding of themselves and of the people around them. They can gain the skills and knowledge that will help them understand their emotions, develop their identities, and set goals.

SEL focuses on a set of life skills kids need to understand themselves and communicate with others.

Breathe For Change exists to enhance the health and well-being of educators, students, and entire communities. In the 200-hour Wellness, SEL, and Yoga Teacher Training, educators learn to use mindfulness, yoga, and social-emotional learning as a vehicle for healing and social change in their classrooms and communities. The training is aligned to CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) standards in order to equip educators to integrate wellness and SEL practices directly into their teaching.
