Breathe For Change: Taking Wellness to the Next Level
I need funding to enroll in the Breathe For Change 300-hour Transformative TEACHing and Leadership Training, which empowers trauma-informed, equitable, and accessible teaching and will help me enhance social-emotional wellness for my school community.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach students enrolled in the Gifted and Talented program spanning kindergarten through fifth grade. Extensive research indicates that gifted learners often exhibit heightened sensitivities, which could make it difficult to self-regulate. My students have skillfully incorporated practices from my previous B4C training, showcasing increased engagement, fostering collaborative efforts with respect, and demonstrating enhanced self-regulation—attributes that maximize their educational experiences and cultivate commendable leadership. This positive impact propels me to continue this journey. I have enrolled in Breathe For Change’s 300-hour Transformative TEACHing and Leadership Training.
Thrilled to continue my Breathe For Change (B4C) journey, the prior training stands as the most rewarding in my 21-year teaching career.
Its impact on my physical, emotional, and mental well-being extends beyond the classroom. I am eager to embark on the 300-hour yoga and SEL teacher training, anticipating heightened pedagogy, enriched yoga knowledge, and enhanced healing in teaching and leadership.
Attaining certification in PD Facilitation via the Breathe For Change TEACH Method, I'll extend learning not only in my classroom but also through after-school yoga and SEL classes and teacher professional development. This training empowers trauma-informed, equitable, and accessible teaching, and fosters expertise in healing-centered community building, restorative yoga, chair yoga, sequencing, and mindfulness. Completion of the 300-hour training will designate me as a 500-hour Certified Yoga Teacher, eligible for registration as a 500 RYT through the Yoga Alliance.
